Where is Northern Cyprus?
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is a 3355 km2 part of the island of Cyprus located in the Mediterranean Sea.
Who lives in TRNC?
Turkish cypriots live in Northern Cyprus. Also, there are many citizens of CIS and EU countries. There are about 400.000 people in total.
Currency in TRNC?
The official currency is the Turkish Lira, but British pounds, Euros and US dollars are also accepted everywhere. Apartments are sold and rented in British Pounds or Euros only.
Is TRNC an unrecognized country?
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is currently recognized only by Turkey. However, large-scale work on the recognition of the TRNC by the countries of the world is underway and will be resolved in the near future. A new large building of Ercan International Airport will be opened from July 2023.
What is the legislation like in TRNC?
As the island of Cyprus is a former British colony, it is a left-hand drive (the steering wheel is on the right) and Saxon law applies. The British really love the TRNC, and there are even villages here where only British citizens can own real estate. For example, the village of Karaman (Karmi), located in the city of Girne (Kyrenia), is the place where most English people live.

However, let’s note that the diplomas of higher education institutions such as EMU, Near East, GAU are approved in Turkey and recognized all over the world. There are also many high-level secondary education institutions.
Healthcare in the TRNC
Healthcare is at a high level. NC also has hair transplant specialists, not lagging behind Turkey, and NC is in the leading positions in the world for artificial insemination. The above-mentioned Near East University has a large hospital in the capital Lefkoşa (Nicosia), known for its highly experienced doctors and specialists.
Security in TRNC
Northern Cyprus is a very safe place. Law enforcement representatives of the Republic of Cyprus and the TRNC work together to ensure a high level of security throughout the island. You will not see high fences or iron-barred windows in the Northern Cyprus. Many people even leave their cars open.
